Hello!
Rested and feeling better we venture our to Great River Bluffs State Park! A relatively new park, compared to many we have been too, established in 1971, the park is an interesting mix of prairie, forest and tall River bluffs!
Pearl is the best rested of us all and leads the way…
This is the view from King’s Bluff! On the horizon you can see Queen’s Bluff and the Mississippi River Valley down below. From up here it seems you can see forever!
The opposite side view you can see how the end of the forest and mix of prairie lands intermingle. This is what makes this park so special and delicate balance of flora and fauna that some how manage to thrive and survive together!!!
Gracie is filled with squirrel fever! I think she is less impressed that the Mississippi Valley was formed by a sea over 500 million years ago, then expanded 10,000 years ago by glacial melt which helped in creating these bluffs, but Gracie rather imagines the miles of critters to chase in the expanse below!
There’s the big view! I imagine this place is incredible when the leaves turn!
The trail on the way back is like a whole different prairie filled world! We are impressed that so many blooms and butterflies hang on so late in the season.
Nice to be back into nature! To be continued…
