Vasquez Rocks, Santa Clarita: Beam me up Scotty! A Star Trek set in nature

Hello!

Vasquez Rocks, Santa Clarita!  These famous rock formations date back about 25 million years and later exposed due to activity on the San Andreas Fault!

Named for famed bandit Tiburcio Vasquez (1873-74) who evaded the law by hiding here.

BUT these are really Hollywood Starlets! Featured in TV and Movies such as Rin Tin Tin, Outer Limits, Michael jackson’s video for Black & White, Big Bang Theory, Roswell, power Rangers , Friends and Star Trek IV!!!! (Many others too)

Actually Star Trek is credited for most of their fame…featured in the original series when Captain Kirk rolls a boulder on to a reptiloid alien, a Gorn. Then these formations are featured in several other episodes but representing other planets each time! So much so that they are nicknamed “Kirk’s Rock”! My Heart Swoons!

You can see people in the mid section to gauge for size of the formations!

Beautiful colors and layers from years of formation and holes from erosion. I love the peaceful contemplation of the person sitting on the far right...

These are the 2 most famous formations from a distance. Kirk's Rock is, of course, the tallest point!
